My story of how I started with my Pomeranian passion begins when I was a young child.I was fortunate enough to have an Aunt who bred and exhibited Champion Pomeranians. My greatest joy was to be able to nurse a Champion Pomeranian on the way home from a show. I now realize why it was on the way home. I made up my mind one day my life would be filled with Show Pomeranians.
I have been lucky enough to have a Pomeranian to share most of my life. I am sure this early experience with the breed ,as well as years of experience breeding dairy & beef cattle and working with stock horses on the farm has helped in my quest to breed quality Pomeranians.
I have been breeding and exhibiting Pomeranians since 1975.
While applying for a prefix, We had received a postcard from my mother-in-law , who had returned to visit her old home and relatives in Scotland. This card was from a place called "Dochlaggie", on the spur of the moment this name was submitted. I had previously submitted at least 40 names and they had been rejected.At last an accepted prefix and hence the Dochlaggie Pomeranians came into existence.

Dochlaggie won it's first All Breeds Best in Show at a Championship Show in 1978 with my homebred ,owner handled Champion Dochlaggie Decisive and that really was the start of my success in the show ring. Many top winning Best in Show Champions have followed, including the top winning American Champion, Multi Best in Show American Champion Dochlaggie Dagwood. A lot of these Champions have been Multi Best in Show winners,some have titled in two countries and one a stunning cream sable -N. Z. BISS, Aust. & Singapore Champion Dochlaggie Deity is titled in 3 countries. Just recently I was thrilled to hear the exciting news- Dochlaggie Devils Brew had became an International Champion.
Dochlaggie have sold Pomeranians to rather interesting, high profile people. One of our repeat clients is the Rap Star, Bad Boy Sean Combs , otherwise previously known as P. Diddy or Puff Daddy.Over the last 7 or 8 years ,Sean has purchased four Dochlaggie Babies .
As well as the challenge of breeding quality orange Pomeranians, I also have a passion for the coloured Pomeranian. I have spent the last 15 years working on whites, parti colours and wolf sables.
The Dochlaggie Pomeranians are a mixture of u.k. & u.s.a. lines. I find that this cross of lines works so well for me.The early Dochlaggie where Australian lines, but after a visit to Europe in 1989 and seeing the Pomeranians at Shows and at prominent breeder's homes in the u.k. 3 males and 4 females, where purchased from the Hadleigh lines. Selecting only the best puppies produced to be retained for future breeding and show purposes ,these new lines where to completely replace the breeding lines I had been working with previously.
These imports where joined by more from the u.k. and then I imported 4 Pomeranians from Jan-Shars in the states. My latest import is a white boy from Taiwan.Totally I have had 26 imports here at Dochlaggie.Some of these 26 imports have contributed to the success of the kennel. Others where not the quality I wanted ,so these imports where placed in loving pet homes.
I would like to thank the wonderful Pomeranian people who entrusted us with oustanding Pomeranians and contributed so much to the huge success the kennel has enjoyed . Dochlaggie Pomeranians have been top winners not only within Australia but have enjoyed huge success worldwide .
All the Pomeranians are micro chipped . I had been using a tattoo as permanent identification prior to 1999. When micro chips became available in 1999 this seemed a better method of identification and I had all adults and new babies micro chipped. Breeding stock are now also dna profiled and genetic tested.
I have been an active Exhibitor/Breeder of Champion Pomeranians for over 30 years. I have been so lucky to have been able to share my life with this special breed. All the joys along the way have made the sorrows in this breed bearable .I have been lucky to have made many wonderful friends in the Pomeranian World and I have a very supportive family , without this support I would not have been able to follow my dream of breeding & exhibiting world class Pomeranians.
